I took The Boy to his first Oregon State football game in 2003 when he was 7 years old. I remember he didn’t watch too much of the game; he was more interested in buying stuff and running around the stadium with his buddy. I know that, like most kids, The Boy hasn’t ALWAYS been thrilled to be sitting in a cold drizzle at Reser. But my hopes were lifted in 2006 when we watched the Beavs decimate the SunDevils in typical November Oregon bone chilling rain. I do not believe that there was a dry spot anywhere on our persons and he loved EVERY minute of it! He still talks about how much fun we had at that game.
Maybe it was the gallons of Allann Bros. Hot Chocolate I kept pouring into him?
For the 2008 season, I thought I was going to be ahead of the curve by getting him signed up for Generation Beavs. This year, the kids get free tickets to the Hawaii game on 9/13 and the Cal game on 11/15, t-shirts and Dad gets tickets for only $15.
The obstacle… Dad is a procrastinator! I get an email from OSU Sports Marketing last Friday alerting me that 8/22 is/was the deadline to get your orders in. I didn’t get it until 7pm. I crossed my fingers and faxed that puppy in on Saturday. I called OSU this morning to confirm that they got the order, only to be told that the deadline was last Friday and the Hawaii tickets were all gone. I told the guy that I had faxed the order in… and if he could check and do what he could… two* little Beavers (and one big one) would be very happy. I laid it on THICK!
While on hold… they play the same radio station I worked for when I attended… cool.
He comes back, tells me that they have the order and it has already been filled. YAY!
*That’s right TWO. I will be taking The Boy’s friend over for the games.
