Barack the Vote!

Last weekend President Bill Clinton was in town and even the hometown paper said that with Oregon’s primary on May 20th, we should be expecting a visit from Sen. Barack Obama.

It didn’t even take a week.

Tonight I stood in line with The Boy for the tickets to the event this Sunday. We got to hear stories from longtime Pendletonians who recalled Sen. Robert Kennedy’s visit in 1968 and President Ford’s visit in 1976.

The plan is that The Girls, The Boy and I will head down tot the Convention Center after church on Sunday to wait in line. The idealistic part of me thinks that the kids will look back with fondness and remember the time that they got to see the President in Eastern Oregon (we rarely see the Governor out here). The more realistic me is expecting a little slice o’ heaven during the 4+ hours of waiting in the sun with the spawn (aka twin 13 year-olds) that make me wish I’d had a vasectomy while in college.

Hopefully I can ply them with treats from the DQ across the parking lot.
