Brothers & Sisters
I have discovered that as I get older, the new fall TV season leaves me flat. More crap on top of crap that is rehashed crap from previous crappy efforts. Mostly I don’t bother with the new shows. I watch the CSI’s, beyond that it is the History Channel or ESPN.
Last year I got hooked on the ABC show, Brothers & Sisters. Mostly because it has Sally Field and Rob Lowe, how could they go wrong. Thankfully, they didn’t. I fell in love with this dysfunctional family, they are the family I wish mine was.
Nora (Sally Fields) is a perfect mother, she is into everyones affairs with very little tact. And feels entirely justified because she loves her family so much. Kitty (Calista Flockhart) is just as annoying as she was on Ally McBeal, but again, there is something appealing about her. Sara (Rachel Griffiths) doesn’t have any problems that a Zyprexa script wouldn’t fix. Tommy (Balthazar Getty) wants to protect everyone, but no one wants to be protected. Kevin (Matthew Rhys), is just flat out awesome, but you would think that as much play as he gets from very attractive mates, he wouldn’t be so uptight. Then there is Justin (Dave Annable) our brave warrior in Iraq. Yes, I hate Holly (Patricia Wettig) and I wonder what Rebbecca (Emily VanCamp) is up to.
When the Walkers left us last May, Justin was being redeployed to Iraq. Without recapping the entire storyline, it was emotional for all involved, including myself. I spent the summer wondering two things, will Sara survive and will Justin be ok?
I just finished watching the Season 2 premiere, re-collected myself and now I feel that I can ask… How much more can this family take? In the previews for next week, they showed us a funeral at Arlington (or something like it). They showed a flag draped coffin. What the hell?!!?
I may be the one needing Zyprexa!

You just reminded me to add this to my Tivo. I have loved Rob Lowe for a long time. I can’t figure out why I don’t watch this show. The only one I watch is Desperate Housewives, so you’d figure… I need to stop watching West Wing and live in the NOW! Okay, I have a grip….
