Purging (w/o the Binge)

The rapidly shrinking Tony over on FatBloggers posted his accomplishments in purging his closet of his ‘fat-man clothes’. His pile of clothes was rather impressive.

Cut back to last weekend and you will have found me doing the same thing. My wife calls me a clothes horse. I don’t think it has as much to do with the number of articles of clothing I have, as it does with the fact that each article is 2-3x the size of her clothes. Therefore, it merely looks like I have more clothes. That’s the story I’m sticking with for now.

My goal was simple: They gotta go! I’m never going to wear these clothes again. They look sloppy on me, so why hold onto them?

  • All the 4XL stuff went without even trying them on.
  • Pants larger than 54″ hit the bin as well. (I did keep my beloved Ralph Lauren jeans for my ‘After Pictures”).
  • Most of my 3XL shirts went as well. (I kept ones that were cut differently so that they don’t look as baggy)
  • 2 grocery bags of undies and t-shirts

The feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction was amazing. The closet space that was opened up was even nicer. The best part… since I am into my 50″ pants, another purging is just another few weeks away.

Bonus! I am getting to wear all those ‘free’ polo and t-shirts I got when I worked in radio. I am so glad I kept them!

(secret goal: I’ve got 2 pair of size 46 Levi 501’s that I haven’t worn since Oregon State… GO BEAVS!)
