Shout out to Randy at Ethos.

I read about Andrew Stanton in a recent issue of Men’s Health magazine, and I have decided that he will serve as my role model. He’s my age, about my weight and his process is pretty much the same as what I am doing now as well as what I want to do when I get ‘there’.
In reading the blogs in my Google Reader, I discover that Randy over at Ethos posted on May 29th a list of some of the things he wanted to do before he died. As I have a similar list, I thought it would be a good part of the ‘process’ to share it with you here. There must be a commonality to all lists like this as I even have some of the same items on my list that Randy has.
So far, this list has only lived in my head. Before I die, I want to:
- Get a tattoo.
- Climb Mt. St. Helens.
- Cycle Oregon.
- Do the Century Ride of the Centuries.
- Run the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
- Hike the Oregon portion of the Pacific Crest Trail.
- Drive Coast-to-Coast in a convertible with my friend for life, Bryan.
- Ride motorcycles with Jeff to the tip of South America.
- Visit (in no particular order) Great Britain, Australia, Czech Republic, Romania, Greece, Israel, Egypt, Poland, Germany, Austria, Russia, and Italy.
- Publish a book.
- Visit all Seven Continents.
- Go back to college and get right all I got wrong the first time.
That’s it for now… the list is a living thing. Just like when I lose this weight and become more than a living thing. But a person who enjoys living.

You go, guy! This is a great list, and what stories would come out of this kind of experience. Just one amendment I’d make: Australia should be FIRST country on the list.
Sadly, Lori has already shot down the coast-to-coast trip. We’ll have to work on her to get that one going.
